the roads to the

in the winter?
Yes, both the major

Skiing is easier to
learn in the

snowboarding is

development, skiing
takes more concerted
effort and training
to enhance skills.

I'm a beginner,
should I purchase
new equipment now?
You should consider
renting equipment as
a beginner until you
progress to
intermediate skills.
A few tips for
beginners planning
their first
snowsports
experience. The
rental process takes
time at all slopes.
You want to plan
your arrival to the
mountain well in
advance of the time
you wish to ski or
snowboard. To be
comfortably fitted
in rental equipment,
allow yourself one
hour. Take note of
the different
sessions and
beginning lesson
times and arrange
your arrival time
accordingly.

Should we take a
lesson?
Yes. A lesson with
one of Hawksnest’s
professional
instructors can make
the difference
between a
frustrating
experience and a
joyful one.
Experience tells us
that those who
attempt to ski or
board for the first
time without
professional
instruction don’t
return to the sport.
Even though skiing
and snowboarding are
relatively easy to
learn, simple
techniques must be
mastered correctly.
We take advance
reservations for
private,
semi-private and
platinum private
lessons and for our
Kiddy Hawk program
(see Kiddy Hawk
instructions for
non-holidays).
Otherwise, all
categories of
private lessons are
taken on a
first-come,
first-served basis.
Group lessons are
always available at
all lessons times
except 12noon. This
includes the Learn
to Ski/Board
packages that
includes a group
lesson.
You don’t need
reservations for
group or Learn to
Ski/Board lessons,
just arrive to the
lodge well in
advance of lesson
times in order to
purchase lift
tickets, lessons and
get fitted for
equipment.
<top
Is it customary to
tip instructors?
Yes, a gratuity is a
nice way to express
appreciation to an
instructor.
All of Hawksnest's
patrons save
additional money at
participating
partners!
